How MIB works

What is an MIB claim?

The Motor Insurance Bureau (MIB)is a special fund that covers claims when the at-fault driver is uninsured or cannot be traced (hit-and-run). You're covered even though the other party has no insurance. We manage the entire claim process on your behalf.

Eligibility

Am I covered?

You're likely covered if

  • You were hit by another vehicle in a collision
  • The other driver had no insurance (or it's untraced)
  • The accident wasn't your fault
  • Your vehicle is registered in the UK
  • You have motor insurance (any type)

Restrictions

  • Your own excess will apply (typically £300-£500)
  • Hit-and-run must be reported to police within 30 days
  • Property damage only (no personal injury cover via MIB for drivers)

Our process

Four steps to MIB recovery

01

Initial assessment

Report to us immediately. We verify uninsured status and the police report.

02

MIB claim lodged

We submit the claim to the Motor Insurance Bureau on your behalf with full evidence.

03

Replacement vehicle

Zero-cost replacement arranged so you stay mobile while your vehicle is repaired.

04

Full recovery

MIB reimburses repairs and recoverable excess. You pay nothing for the claim.

What happens next

Three steps to recovery

Even when the other driver is uninsured or untraced.

Step

1

Report and gather evidence

Call us 24/7. We'll talk you through reporting to police (essential for hit-and-run) and gathering CCTV, dash cam, and witness details.

Step

2

We file the MIB claim

We submit to the Motor Insurance Bureau on your behalf and arrange a replacement vehicle so you stay mobile while the claim runs.

Step

3

Repair and recovery

Your vehicle is repaired in our in-house bodyshop. The MIB reimburses repair costs and any recoverable excess once the claim is approved.

Critical — 30-day police report

Report hit-and-run to police within 30 days

For untraced drivers, a police report is required for MIB eligibility. Call us and we'll guide you through the process.
